  • How We Survive: A NA Financial Story

    How We Make It Through

Every month begins with the same routine.

I sit at my kitchen table with a cup of coffee, a stack of bills, and a calculator. Before the month has really started, most of my paycheck already has a destination.

    Rent.

    Electricity.

    Fuel.

    Groceries.

    Phone bill.

Unexpected expenses always seem to appear when money is tightest.

Some months are easier than others. During the good months, I can put a little money aside. During the hard months, every dollar has a job before it even reaches my bank account.

I’ve learned to stretch things further than I ever thought possible. Leftovers become another meal. Small repairs are done at home. New purchases are delayed until they become absolutely necessary.

There were times when I worked two jobs just to stay ahead. Long days turned into longer nights, and weekends became opportunities to earn a little extra income.

What keeps me going is the people around me.

Family members helping each other. Friends sharing resources. Neighbors checking in when times get difficult.

Nobody likes asking for help, but life has taught me that independence and community can exist together.

The truth is that survival is rarely about one big breakthrough. It is usually a collection of small decisions repeated every day.

    Choosing not to give up.

    Choosing to keep working.

Choosing to believe that next month might be better than the last.

Financially, life is not always easy. Some days are frustrating. Some days are exhausting.

But every bill paid, every obstacle overcome, and every goal reached—no matter how small—feels like a victory.

    We keep moving forward.

    One paycheck.

    One day.

    One step at a time.
